Responsibilities

Our client is a leading multinational FMCG organisation with a strong presence across the Asia Pacific region and a portfolio of well-established consumer brands. As part of its continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its regional legal team based in Singapore.


This role will serve as a trusted legal and commercial advisor to business leaders across the region, partnering closely with commercial, sales, innovation, procurement, treasury and finance stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling business growth while managing legal and regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions.


Key Responsibilities of this Legal Counsel - FMCG

  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of complex commercial agreements, including supply, procurement, manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, agency, customer and strategic partnership agreements.
  • Partner with commercial and sales teams to support business objectives and customer-facing initiatives across APAC.
  • Advise treasury and finance functions on financing arrangements, guarantees, security documents and other corporate finance matters.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice on regulatory, consumer protection, labelling, advertising, product and marketing matters.
  • Manage disputes, claims and external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support regional and global legal initiatives, projects and business transformation programmes.
  • Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments impacting the FMCG sector and wider business operations.


Requirements of this Legal Counsel - FMCG

  • Qualified lawyer with approximately 8-12+ years' post-qualification experience gained in a leading law firm and/or multinational corporation.
  • Strong track record in commercial contracting and business partnering.
  • Experience supporting regional or international operations within a matrixed organisation.
  • Exposure to banking & finance, treasury matters or financing arrangements would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience within FMCG, consumer products, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, ingredients, industrials or other fast-moving commercial environments will be viewed favourably.
  • Commercially minded with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Able to balance legal risk with practical business solutions in a fast-paced environment.
