Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Officer to join our team on-site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enforcing health, safety, and environmental regulations, identifying workplace hazards, and ensuring all construction personnel comply with safety standards to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to Malaysian Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) laws, factories and machinery regulations, and DOSH standards.
- Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct daily safety walks and site audits to identify unsafe conditions, dangerous work practices, or environmental hazards.
- Risk Management: Lead and implement Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRADC) alongside Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all site activities.
- Safety Training & Toolbox Talks: Conduct daily toolbox meetings, site safety inductions for incoming sub-contractors/workers, and specialized safety briefings (e.g., working at height, scaffolding, lifting operations).
- Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause investigations for any site accidents, near-misses, or dangerous occurrences, and submit formal reports to management and relevant authorities (DOSH) as required.
- PPE & First Aid Enforcement: Ensure proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and verify site first aid and emergency response preparedness.
- Documentation & Statutory Compliance: Maintain statutory safety records, site inspection logs, DOSH notification documents, and safety committee meeting minutes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Mandatory Certification: Valid Yellow Book registration as a Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) or Green Book registration as a Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH (JKKP).
- Training: Recognized safety certification/training from NIOSH or accredited training bodies (e.g., Site Safety Supervisor Course, Safety & Health Officer Course).
- Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of practical safety experience on active construction sites (residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects).
- Technical Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Factories and Machinery Act (FMA), scaffolding standards, and site ergonomics.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; ability to work assertively with sub-contractors and site supervisors.
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
