About the Job

Looking for a Financial Controller who leads Malaysia’s end-to-end finance operations, drive financial performance and process improvements, and partner with regional Group Finance in a growing life sciences and laboratory products distribution group.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full spectrum of Malaysia finance operations, including month-end closing, management accounts, financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger integrity and timely resolution of accounting discrepancies.
• Supervise daily accounting operations covering AP, AR, GL, inventory and fixed assets, while driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, providing insights on profitability, cost control and business performance.
• Manage cash flow and working capital, monitoring receivables, payables, inventory levels and key financial indicators.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory, tax and regulatory requirements, including corporate tax, SST, e-invoicing and transfer pricing.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial risk management, approval procedures and compliance with Group policies.
• Lead, coach and develop the Malaysia finance team, ensuring accountability, accuracy and timely delivery of financial reports.
• Collaborate with Group Finance, business leaders, external auditors and tax advisors to support financial governance and business objectives.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ACCA/CPA/CA or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of finance and accounting experience, including senior finance or Financial Controller roles.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.
• Trading and distribution industry experience preferred.
• SAP Business One (SAP B1) or ERP experience is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, tax and statutory compliance.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills.
• Hands-on, organised and able to work under tight deadlines.
• Shared service centre experience is an advantage.
