Role Description The Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Sibu, responsible for managing and monitoring the company’s financial records and ensuring accurate, timely reporting. Day-to-day tasks include preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, handling accounts payable and receivable, and performing bank reconciliations. The role also involves assisting in budgeting and forecasting, monitoring costs related to plantation operations, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. The Accountant will support month-end and year-end closing activities, prepare audit schedules, and liaise with auditors and other internal stakeholders. This position requires close collaboration with operational and management teams to provide financial insights that support sound business decisions.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and familiarity with applicable accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and office productivity tools (e.g., ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, and related applications).
  • Solid understanding of taxation, regulatory compliance, and internal control procedures within a corporate environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple deadlines, month-end closing, and reporting requirements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with finance colleagues, operational teams, and external auditors.
  • Relevant academic qualification, such as a degree or professional certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Prior accounting experience, preferably in plantation, agribusiness, or manufacturing industries, is an advantage.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy in financial records.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Sibu and collaborate within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment.
