Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Area Operations Manager to oversee multiple school catering outlets. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring food quality and service standards, managing financial performance, and leading on-site teams across 2 to 4 accounts.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and operationally hands-on, capable of improving sales, controlling costs, and delivering exceptional customer experience in a multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
Multi-Site Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations across 2–4 catering outlets (school cafés).
- Ensure consistency in food quality, service standards, and hygiene practices.
- Spend 80% of time on-site visits to monitor and support operations.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop Café Managers, Kitchen Managers, and site teams.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback.
- Resolve operational and people-related issues effectively.
- Drive a positive, high-performance team culture.
Sales & Business Growth
- Drive sales growth target of minimum 5% annually.
- Improve menu offerings, promotions, and customer engagement.
- Support business development and client retention initiatives.
Financial & Cost Control
- Manage and achieve key financial KPIs:
- Labour cost: 25–30%
- Food cost (COGS): 30–45% overall
- Profit margin target: 15–25%
- Review monthly P&L with each outlet and implement improvement plans.
- Approve supplier costs and monitor purchasing efficiency.
Customer & Client Management
- Act as the key liaison with school management and stakeholders.
- Ensure high levels of satisfaction among students, teachers, and staff.
- Handle feedback, complaints, and service recovery professionally.
- Represent the company as a brand ambassador.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure all outlets comply with SOPs, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Conduct monthly kitchen inspections and submit reports within 24 hours.
- Maintain consistency in service delivery and operational procedures.
Staffing & Workforce Planning
- Lead recruitment efforts for outlet staff.
- Ensure proper manpower planning and labour coverage.
- Approve timecards, leave, and attendance records.
Training & Development
- Train and develop staff in food service, customer service, and SOPs.
- Ensure continuous improvement in team capability and performance.
Catering & Events
- Oversee and support catering for school events, including evenings and weekends.
- Ensure smooth execution of special functions and inter-school events.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, F&B, or related field
- Culinary qualification is an added advantage
- Minimum 5 years of experience in F&B or catering operations
- At least 2 years managing multiple outlets / locations
- Experience in school catering or institutional catering is highly preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Solid understanding of P&L, cost control, and budgeting
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good planning and time management skills

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
