Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting electrical infrastructure projects, maintenance activities, and technical operations related to data center and enterprise environments. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, troubleshooting, project coordination, and compliance with safety standards.
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working closely with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and customers to ensure successful project execution and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance for electrical-related issues and equipment failures.
- Monitor and maintain electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchboards, transformers, PDUs, and power distribution systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Review electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for project implementation.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers regarding project schedules, maintenance activities, and technical support.
- Assist in project planning, implementation, site surveys, and on-site coordination activities.
- Ensure all work complies with local regulations, safety standards, and company procedures.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Support data center and mission-critical facility operations when required.
- Participate in on-site troubleshooting, emergency response, and escalation support activities.
- Support infrastructure deployment activities including equipment installation, rack power provisioning, and electrical integration works.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical assets, maintenance activities, and operational changes.
- Follow established operational procedures, maintenance standards, and change management processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant working experience in electrical engineering, facilities management, data center operations, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchboards, and critical infrastructure equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with Malaysian electrical regulations, safety requirements, and industry standards.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Willing to travel to project sites when required.
Exposure to ELV systems such as CCTV, Access Control, Structured Cabling, Fiber Optic Infrastructure, Building Management Systems (BMS), or Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) will be an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in data center, mission-critical facility, or technology infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or related engineering software is preferred.
- Possession of Chargeman certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience supporting ELV infrastructure within data center, critical facility, or enterprise environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with DCIM, BMS, or environmental monitoring platforms will be an advantage.
