Optics & Photonics Engineer (ATE Systems)

Penang, Malaysia | ️ Travel Required


About the Role

At Pentamaster Corporation Berhad, we are looking for a passionate Optics & Photonics Engineer to design and develop cutting-edge optical solutions for advanced ATE (Automated Test Equipment) systems.

In this role, you will work on exciting technologies such as optical emitters, sensors, silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, and module burn-in systems, contributing directly to next-generation innovations in the photonics and semiconductor industries.


What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop optical and photonics modules based on customer requirements and test specifications
  • Create and optimize optical lens systems for beam focusing, shaping, and coupling performance
  • Collaborate closely with customers, cross-functional teams, and suppliers to ensure successful and timely project delivery
  • Analyze and optimize test systems to improve manufacturing yield and product performance
  • Troubleshoot and debug ATE system failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct research, prototyping, and proof-of-concept development to drive innovation and technical solutions
  • Lead or contribute to the full project lifecycle: planning, design, development, validation, and continuous improvement


What You’ll Own

  • Product design inputs/outputs, specifications, and validation activities
  • Optical system design and material selection
  • Manufacturing processes, technologies, and tooling validation
  • Project strategy, priorities, timelines, and execution


What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Optics & Photonics or a related field

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in optical design or a related field (fresh graduates with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply)
  • Hands-on experience with optical design & simulation tools (e.g., Zemax or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with optical components and measurement instruments (light sources, detectors, lenses, optical fibers)

  • Ability to work in cross-functional, fast-paced environments
