JOB SUMMARY:

Our client designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Their products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Their security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities. As a global leader in security screening solutions, our client provides state-of-the-art products, solutions and services to meet customers’ most demanding threat detection needs.

The Product Engineering team is seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative Engineering Project Manager to join the organization. This candidate will lead a selection of engineering development projects that include advanced component technology, new product development and existing product improvement initiatives. The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for the supervision of design and development activities that include identification of requirements, development of technical specifications, assembly of prototype systems and transfer to production.

This is a managerial as well as technical engineering role that requires investigation of new processes and application of advanced engineering methodologies. The Engineering Project Manager will work in a cross-functional team environment and will oversee and mentor both senior and junior engineers and scientists working on key engineering development projects. Maintaining project schedules and costs are critical aspects for success in this position.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning and Execution:

• Develop detailed project plans, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, product cost targets and scope.
• Coordinate resources, define work packages, manage budgets, and track project risks and issues.
• Execute each step of the project, from inception to delivery.
• Monitor and control project scope. Document scope changes and identify impacts on timelines, budget, and quality.

Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
• Define project responsibilities and allocate resources effectively.
• Foster a work culture that supports individual differences and maximizes team performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Risk Mitigation and Quality Assurance:

• Identify, analyze, and proactively respond to project, financial, and operational risks.
• Implement continuous improvement programs and best practices.
• Ensure quality goals are met throughout project execution.

Supplier and Vendor Relationships and Contract Negotiations:

• Manage supplier and vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and vendor selection processes.
• Handle maintenance, support, and renewal solutions.

Travel:

• Occasional travel to client sites, vendor locations, or customer installations is required.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, software or systems engineering, for instance)
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in project management
• Project Management Certification(s): CAPM, PMI-PMP, MPM, PPM, PRINCE2
• Demonstrated track record of leading technology-oriented projects that meet cost, schedule, and performance goals
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams in solving complex design and engineering problems
• Thorough understanding of gated product development life cycles
• Experience leading multi-disciplined technical project engineering teams
• Experience in estimating, creating, and actively managing project and program budgets
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously
• Familiarity with software, electrical, electronic, and mechanical design
• Familiar with international agency testing standards (ETL, CE, UL, UKCA, CSA, etc.)
• Familiarity with Agile product management and tools for structuring BOMs
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools such as MS Project, OnePlan, Jira, and Confluence

Desired Characteristics:

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related field
• Experience leading engineering projects and programs for embedded systems in aerospace and/or aviation security industries
• Experience designing component technologies and products in regulated markets (medical, aviation, utilities, transportation, etc.)
• Ability to drive program deliverables and resolve technical and program issues
• Familiarity with Microsoft DevOps environment
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to continuous process improvement

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM11,000.00 per month
