Role Description The Electrical / Project Engineer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Penang, Malaysia. You will be responsible for designing and reviewing low‑voltage electrical power distribution and control assemblies, preparing technical specifications, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
You will plan and manage project activities, coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients, monitor progress against schedules, and support cost and resource planning. Day‑to‑day tasks include:
- Prepare electrical drawings, circuit designs, and bills of quantities (BOQ) for projects and products.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain technical documentation such as specifications, datasheets, and as‑built drawings.
- Utilise the company’s ERP system to ensure alignment with schedules, procurement, and documentation workflows.
- Support product development of electrical power distribution and energy storage equipment.
- Resolve technical issues during manufacturing and installation.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests and support quality and safety initiatives.
- Communicate technical information clearly, identify risks proactively, and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering and project delivery processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Strong Electrical Engineering skills, including knowledge of low‑voltage systems, power distribution, control assemblies, and relevant standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design.
- Familiarity with electrical documentation (Single Line Diagrams, technical specifications, panel layouts).
- Experience in M&E projects, LV power distribution, and conversion systems is an advantage.
- Exposure to project scheduling or ERP software for engineering workflows.
- Competency with computers, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Solid Project Engineering and Project Planning skills to oversee technical scopes, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Effective Project Management skills to coordinate stakeholders, manage risks, track progress, and support on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
- Experience in switchgear, power distribution, or industrial electrical projects is beneficial.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work safely on‑site, interpret technical drawings, and travel to client or project locations as required.
