About the role

We are seeking an experienced Edger to join our manufacturing team at EssilorLuxottica Malaysia in Skudai, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our optical lens production process. As an Edger, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining edging equipment to shape and finish optical lenses to precise specifications. This role is essential to maintaining the quality and accuracy of our products, which directly impacts our customers' satisfaction and our reputation as a leading optical manufacturer.

What you'll be doing

• Operating edging machinery to shape, cut, and finish optical lenses according to prescription specifications and quality standards

• Measuring and inspecting finished lenses using precision instruments to ensure they meet required dimensions and tolerances

• Loading and unloading lenses from edging equipment and positioning them correctly for processing

• Monitoring machine performance during operation and making minor adjustments to maintain optimal functioning

• Maintaining accurate records of production batches, machine settings, and quality checks

• Cleaning and maintaining edging equipment to ensure longevity and consistent performance

• Identifying and reporting any defective lenses or equipment malfunctions to supervisors

• Following all health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organised work area

• Collaborating with team members to meet production targets and deadlines

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as an Edger or in a similar assembly and process work role within manufacturing

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to precise specifications and tolerances

• Experience operating edging machinery and familiarity with optical lens production

• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and understanding measurement tools and techniques

• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Reliability and commitment to maintaining consistent quality standards

• Basic numeracy skills for measurement and calculation

• Knowledge of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Preferred: Experience with optical or precision manufacturing industries
