We are seeking an experienced and visionary SHE Section Head to lead our Safety, Health & Environment function. This role requires a capable leader who can drive organizational change, strengthen SHE governance, develop high-performing teams, and foster a proactive safety culture across the organization. Beyond statutory compliance, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business sustainability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Safety, Health & Environment Section, providing strategic direction, governance, and operational oversight.
- Develop and implement SHE strategies, policies, objectives, and improvement programmes aligned with business goals.
- Lead, coach, and develop the SHE team through effective performance management, succession planning, and competency development.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Environmental Quality Act, and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the company's registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) and fulfil all statutory responsibilities.
- Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in SHE performance through audits, inspections, behavioural safety programmes, and management reviews.
- Build strong partnerships with department heads to integrate SHE requirements into operational planning and daily business activities.
- Represent the company in engagements with DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, certification bodies, auditors, and other regulatory authorities.
- Monitor SHE performance, analyse trends, prepare management reports, and recommend strategic improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book) with DOSH.
- Minimum 10 years of SHE experience, including 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within a manufacturing or process industry.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian SHE legislation, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams, driving organizational change, and implementing SHE improvement programmes.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in food manufacturing, oleochemical, chemical, or other process industries will be an added advantage.
