Build the systems behind the Penang Mutiara Line

MRT Corp is recruiting multiple experienced Senior Railway Systems Engineers to support the design, integration, delivery, testing and operational readiness of the Penang Mutiara Line.

Successful candidates may be assigned according to their primary technical specialisation in one of the following areas:

• Electric Train – System Coordination
• Electric Train – Electrical & Pneumatic
• Communications – Radio System, Wireless Data Communication System and Train-Borne systems
• Communications – Public Address System, Passenger Information Display System and Private Automatic Branch Exchange
• Railway Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System
• Computerised Maintenance Management System
• Power Supply & Distribution System – Direct Current
• Depot Equipment
• Operation Requirement

There are multiple openings, including positions within the Radio System, Wireless Data Communication System and Train-Borne communications specialisation.

The role

As a Senior Railway Systems Engineer, you will provide specialist engineering support and technical coordination throughout the railway-system project lifecycle.

Depending on your assignment, you will support detailed design, system interfaces, contractor deliverables, testing and commissioning, technical assurance, requirements management and readiness for safe railway operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review technical designs, calculations, specifications, drawings and contractor submissions.
• Verify technical compliance with project requirements, applicable railway standards and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between your assigned system and other railway systems, civil works, stations, depots and external stakeholders.
• Support development and management of Interface Control Documents and other interface records.
• Monitor engineering and contractor deliverables against project schedules and technical requirements.
• Identify technical and interface risks and support timely resolution and mitigation.
• Support requirements capture, verification and validation.
• Participate in technical workshops, design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, Site Integration Tests, integrated testing, commissioning and trial-running activities as applicable.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering recommendations and progress updates.
• Support operational readiness, asset information and project handover where applicable.
• Guide junior team members where required and contribute to consistent engineering quality across the project.

What we are looking for

• Candidates must have a recognised bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or another relevant technical discipline appropriate to their specialisation with a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
• Prior relevant professional experience is mandatory.
• The required depth of experience varies by specialist assignment.
• You should demonstrate meaningful experience in your chosen specialisation together with exposure to railway project design, technical coordination, interfaces, testing, commissioning or operational readiness.
• Experience in metro, Light Rail Transit, Mass Rapid Transit or mainline railway environments is strongly preferred.
• We value engineers who can explain complex technical matters clearly, exercise sound judgement, take ownership of issues and work effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
