Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Excellence Lead (MEL) is responsible for driving operational excellence initiatives through the Barry Callebaut Operating System (BCOS). The role focuses on continuous improvement, loss elimination, process optimization, capability development, and manufacturing performance enhancement to support the achievement of safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity targets.

The incumbent will work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain and SHE teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and support the plant's Zero Loss journey.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Excellence & BCOS

  • Lead the deployment and sustainment of BCOS methodologies and standards within assigned production areas.
  • Facilitate Daily Direction Setting (DDS) routines and performance management processes.
  • Drive BCOS pillar activities and ensure compliance with BCOS work systems.
  • Support BCOS assessments, audits and continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Promote zero loss thinking and operational excellence culture across the plant.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI), Kaizen and loss elimination initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving activities.
  • Drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and sustain improvement initiatives to ensure long-term benefits.

Operational Performance

  • Analyze manufacturing data and key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support initiatives to improve OEE, productivity, waste reduction and process stability.
  • Develop action plans to address performance gaps and operational losses.
  • Monitor and report improvement performance against plant objectives.

Capability Development

  • Coach employees on BCOS tools, problem-solving techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support capability building, skill matrix development and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Facilitate One Point Lessons (OPL) and best practice sharing across teams.
  • Develop a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous learning.

Project Management

  • Coordinate operational excellence and process improvement projects.
  • Track project timelines, deliverables and performance outcomes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management review.

Quality, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure improvement activities comply with SHE, food safety and quality requirements.
  • Participate in audits, investigations and compliance activities as required.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen safety culture and operational discipline.

RequirementsEducation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or other related disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering or related roles.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Operational Excellence, BCOS, WCM, IWS or similar manufacturing systems is an advantage.
  • Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or process manufacturing environment is preferred.
