1. Plating Process Engineering
- Monitor and control plating parameters such as current, voltage, temperature, pH, chemical concentration, plating time and current density.
- Maintain plating bath chemistry and coordinate with the chemical/lab team for bath analysis.
- Troubleshoot plating defects such as uneven thickness, peeling, burning, poor adhesion, discoloration, rough surface and pinholes.
- Optimize plating processes to improve quality, productivity and yield.
- Reduce chemical consumption, water usage, energy consumption and process waste.
- Establish and maintain process specifications, work instructions and control plans.
- Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for process problems and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Support new product/process introduction, trial runs and process qualification.
- Monitor process capability and production performance.
2. Plating Equipment & Facilities
- Maintain and improve plating lines, tanks, pumps, filters, rectifiers and circulation systems.
- Monitor RO/DI water, chilled water, compressed air and exhaust systems.
- Manage plating-line ventilation and chemical exhaust/scrubber systems.
- Support wastewater treatment/ETP operation and troubleshooting.
- Plan preventive maintenance and coordinate with maintenance teams or contractors.
- Troubleshoot facility and utility breakdowns that affect production.
- Ensure adequate capacity and reliability of plant utilities.
3. First Article (FA), New Product & Technical Reporting
· Handle and coordinate FA / new product trial runs.
· Review customer drawings and specifications before processing.
· Prepare and complete FA reports and required supporting documents.
· Coordinate with Production, QA and Lab during FA runs.
· Follow up and resolve any process, quality or dimensional issues found during FA.
· After FA approval and mass production starts, continue to monitor process performance, product quality and production issues.
· Support improvement and corrective action when any abnormality is found during mass production.
· Prepare trial, qualification and technical reports when required.
4. Documentation & Reporting
· Prepare or support RCA, NCR/CAR and corrective-action reports for process or facility-related issues.
· Maintain WWTP, scrubber, DI water and compressed-air monitoring records where applicable.
· Support internal, customer, AS9100 and Nadcap audits, including preparation of required records/evidence and follow-up actions.
5. Safety & Environmental
- Ensure proper handling, storage and transfer of plating chemicals.
- Monitor chemical exposure, ventilation and environmental controls.
- Support compliance with EHS, DOE and company requirements.
- Investigate chemical spills, wastewater issues and other environmental incidents.
- Participate in risk assessments such as HIRARC.
Academic Qualification
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Chemical/Process Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Professional certification or additional training in surface finishing, electroplating, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, EHS, or industrial process control will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
- Preferably 3–5 years of relevant experience in plating, electroplating, surface treatment, chemical processing, metal finishing, or related manufacturing industries.
- Hands-on experience in plating process engineering, plating bath control, chemical analysis, process optimization, troubleshooting, and production yield improvement.
- Experience with plating equipment, rectifiers, pumps, filters, circulation systems, ventilation/exhaust systems, RO/DI water, chilled water, compressed air, and wastewater treatment/ETP.
- Experience in preparing and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, control plans, engineering reports, maintenance schedules, and process documentation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and audit requirements, including ISO 9001, AS 9100 and Nadcap, will be an advantage.
Technical Knowledge & Competencies
- Knowledge of chemical handling, chemical storage, ventilation, exhaust/scrubber systems, environmental controls and wastewater treatment.
- Understanding of DOE requirements, EHS requirements and HIRARC/risk assessment practices.
Key Personal Competencies
- Good understanding of chemical and process safety.
- Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with Production, Quality, Chemical/Laboratory, Maintenance, EHS and external contractors.
- Good communication, reporting and documentation skills.
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
