4. Job Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving product and process quality throughout the electronics manufacturing process. The role covers quality control, defect analysis, corrective and preventive actions, customer complaints, process improvement, and quality system compliance.

The Quality Engineer works closely with Production, Process Engineering, Electronics Engineering, IQC, SQE, Procurement, and other departments to identify root causes and prevent recurring quality issues.

5. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Product & Process Quality

• Monitor product and process quality performance throughout manufacturing.
• Establish and maintain quality control requirements for electronic products and assemblies.
• Review inspection standards, control plans, work instructions, and quality specifications.
• Monitor production defects and identify trends.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with approved quality requirements.
• Support IPQC, IQC, and final inspection activities.

B. Quality Problem Solving

• Investigate production, process, material, and product quality issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis using appropriate quality tools.
• Lead or support problem-solving activities using:
• 8D
• 5 Why
• Fishbone Analysis
• Pareto Analysis
• FMEA
• SPC
• CAPA
• Develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Monitor recurring defects and implement preventive measures.

C. Electronics & PCBA Quality

• Support quality activities for electronic components, PCBAs, electronic assemblies, and finished products.
• Investigate defects related to soldering, component placement, polarity, workmanship, assembly, and electrical functionality.
• Work with Engineering and Production to identify process-related causes.
• Review product test and inspection data.
• Support improvements to SMT, THT, soldering, assembly, testing, and inspection processes where applicable.

D. Customer Quality & Complaints

• Investigate customer complaints and quality issues.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to identify root causes.
• Prepare 8D, corrective action, and customer quality reports.
• Follow up on customer complaint containment and corrective actions.
• Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions after implementation.
• Maintain records of customer quality issues and improvement activities.

E. Non-Conforming Product Control

• Monitor non-conforming products and materials.
• Support the disposition process for rejected products.
• Review NCRs and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
• Coordinate containment activities to prevent defective products from reaching customers.
• Monitor scrap, rework, repair, and rejection trends.

F. Quality System & Audit

• Support implementation and maintenance of the company's Quality Management System.
• Participate in internal, customer, and certification audits.
• Prepare required quality documentation and records.
• Follow up on audit findings and corrective actions.
• Ensure quality procedures are properly implemented.
• Support compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable customer requirements.

G. New Product Introduction

• Support quality activities during New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Review product specifications and quality requirements.
• Support prototype, pilot, and mass-production qualification.
• Develop or review Control Plans, FMEA, inspection standards, and quality documentation.
• Monitor quality performance during trial production.
• Identify potential quality risks before mass production.

H. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing defects and improve product quality.
• Analyze quality data and develop improvement projects.
• Support yield improvement and defect reduction programs.
• Work with Process Engineering and Production on process optimization.
• Promote quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the factory.

I. Quality Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
• Monitor quality KPIs and trends.
• Analyze defect data and provide recommendations to management.
• Maintain quality databases and records.
