Job Title: Financial Accountant/ Finance Senior Executive - Manufacturing Industry

Role Summary

The Financial Accountant is responsible for accurate financial accounting, reporting and statutory compliance for the manufacturing business. The role manages key month-end and year-end activities, supports operational and management reporting, coordinates annual statutory audits, administers payroll-related accounting and statutory submissions, oversees SST and e-Invoicing requirements, and processes approved payments through the company's banking platforms. The position works closely with operations, supply chain, the Finance team in Australia, external auditors, tax agents, bankers and other stakeholders. The role reports to the General Manager of the Malaysian business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full or partial sets of accounts, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and intercompany balances.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, account reconciliations and closing schedules.
  • Prepare timely monthly management accounts, financial statements, cash flow reports, variance analyses and other management information.
  • Prepare financial reports in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), applicable IFRS requirements, company accounting policies and applicable Malaysian reporting requirements.
  • Support manufacturing accounting activities, including inventory reconciliations, stock provisions, standard or actual costing, production variances, overhead allocation and coordination of stock counts, where applicable.
  • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records, supporting schedules, audit trails and document-retention files.
  • Coordinate the annual statutory audit, prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation, respond to audit queries and follow through on agreed adjustments and control recommendations.
  • Liaise with the wider Finance team in Australia, external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, government agencies and other professional advisers.
  • Prepare, review and submit SST returns and supporting records in accordance with Malaysian requirements.
  • Support the company's Malaysian e-Invoice processes, including data validation, invoice issuance or submission, reconciliation, exception resolution and record keeping in line with current guidance issued by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
  • Administer or support monthly payroll processing and payroll accounting, including payroll reconciliation and statutory deductions or contributions such as PCB, EPF, SOCSO and EIS.
  • Prepare payment proposals and payment vouchers, verify supporting documents and approvals, process authorised payments through online banking platforms, and maintain appropriate segregation of duties and payment controls.
  • Monitor cash flow, bank balances, receivables and supplier commitments; perform bank reconciliations and assist with short-term cash forecasting.
  • Use SAP to process, review and reconcile financial transactions and maintain accurate master and reporting data.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, process improvements and finance-system enhancement projects.
  • Communicate financial matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders and provide ad hoc analysis to management in Malaysia and Australia.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical knowledge of MFRS, IFRS principles, Malaysian statutory requirements and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, annual statutory audit support and preparation of financial or management reports.
  • Working knowledge of Malaysian SST and e-Invoicing requirements.
  • Experience supporting payroll, payroll accounting and Malaysian statutory payroll submissions or reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing and processing payments through corporate online banking platforms, with an understanding of approval controls and segregation of duties.
  • SAP exposure is strongly preferred; equivalent experience with a recognised ERP or accounting system will be considered.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions and data analysis.
  • A completed or in-progress professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA or MICPA, is an advantage.
