Role Description The Payroll Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Penang, Malaysia. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, including validating time and attendance data, preparing payroll runs, and ensuring timely and accurate salary payments. The Payroll Specialist will handle payroll taxes, garnishments, and statutory contributions, and maintain compliance with local regulations and company policies. Day-to-day tasks include resolving payroll inquiries, reconciling payroll accounts, working closely with HR and finance teams, and maintaining confidential employee records. The role also involves identifying process improvements, supporting audits, and contributing to the enhancement of payroll services and systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Payroll Processing and Payroll Administration, with experience managing regular and off-cycle payroll runs.
  • Knowledge of Payroll Taxes and statutory deductions, including accurate calculation, reporting, and compliance with local regulations.
  • Experience with Payroll Services and systems, including payroll software, data integrity checks, and coordination with HRIS and finance tools.
  • Practical experience handling Garnishments and other mandatory deductions in accordance with legal and company requirements.
  • Attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to employee inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and related office tools; familiarity with enterprise payroll or HR systems is an advantage.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; prior experience in payroll or HR operations is preferred.
