The Team Leader is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of technicians within the service workshop to ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and according to company and manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate daily work assignments for technicians.
- Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, work quality, and job completion.
- Ensure repair and maintenance jobs are completed within the required turnaround time.
- Monitor technicians' attendance, discipline, performance, and utilisation.
- Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
- Assist with difficult or complicated technical cases.
- Ensure proper diagnostic procedures and repair methods are followed.
- Conduct final checks where necessary before vehicles are released.
- Quality Control
- Ensure all repairs are completed according to manufacturer and company standards.
- Minimise repeat repairs and customer complaints.
- Investigate workmanship-related comeback cases and implement corrective action.
- Ensure technicians use the correct tools, equipment, parts, and repair procedures.
- Productivity & Performance
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and overall workshop performance.
- Ensure allocated jobs are properly distributed according to technicians' skills and workload.
- Work closely with Service Advisors and Workshop Management to meet daily service targets.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide coaching to team members.
- Safety & Workshop Standards
- Ensure all technicians comply with occupational safety, workshop safety, and company procedures.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and cleanliness within the workshop.
- Ensure tools and workshop equipment are properly maintained and used safely.
- Report any unsafe condition, equipment failure, or workplace incident immediately.
- Team Development
- Coach, guide, and develop technicians under the Team Leader's supervision.
- Identify training requirements and technical competency gaps.
- Support new technicians during their orientation and development.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Coordination & Reporting
- Communicate job progress, delays, technical issues, and additional repair requirements to the relevant Service Advisor or Workshop Manager.
- Attend workshop meetings and provide updates on team performance.
- Assist management in achieving workshop KPIs, customer satisfaction targets, and operational objectives.
Qualification Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Automotive Maintenance, or equivalent recognised automotive qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in an automotive workshop or authorised service centre environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of vehicle servicing, repair, diagnostics, and workshop operations.
- Proven experience supervising technicians and managing workshop workflow.
- Good leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple repair jobs simultaneously.
- Good understanding of workshop safety and quality-control requirements.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with automotive workshop/service management systems will be an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with an authorised automotive dealership or manufacturer service centre is preferred.
- Experience with Toyota or Japanese automotive brands will be an added advantage.
- Technical diagnostic certification or manufacturer technical training will be advantageous.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
