Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining occupational safety and health standards at the project site. The SHO will ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian safety and health legislation, company requirements, client requirements, and project HSE procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safety programs at the project site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOSH requirements, CIDB requirements, and client HSE standards.
  • Prepare and review HIRARC, method statements, risk assessments, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, inductions, and HSE training for workers and site personnel.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and prepare necessary reports.
  • Monitor site activities including lifting, scaffolding, excavation, work at height, hot work, confined space, and other high-risk activities.
  • Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safe working practices.
  • Monitor safety documentation, permits, inspection records, and corrective actions.
  • Liaise with DOSH, CIDB, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other relevant authorities on safety and health matters.
  • Advise Project Management and site personnel on safety requirements and corrective measures.
  • Follow up on safety observations, non-conformances, and corrective/preventive actions until closure.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports, statistics, and safety performance updates.
  • Support emergency preparedness, drills, and implementation of the site's emergency response plan.

Requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • Must be a DOSH-registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) with a valid registration.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in construction, industrial, or oil & gas projects.
  • Experience handling high-risk construction activities is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Malaysian OSH legislation, DOSH requirements, HIRARC, PTW, and construction safety practices.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills.
  • Able to conduct safety inspections, training, investigations, and risk assessments independently.
  • Strong coordination skills and able to work with workers, subcontractors, supervisors, and project management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
