Maintenance Engineer – FOL Assembly

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer – FOL Assembly to lead and manage equipment maintenance activities in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Front-of-Line (FOL) Assembly equipment , equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

This role will lead a team of technicians/engineers to ensure high equipment availability, stable production, quality performance, and timely response to equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment & Maintenance Management

• Lead day-to-day maintenance activities for FOL Assembly equipment.
• Ensure high equipment availability, reliability and performance to support production requirements.
• Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex equipment failures.
• Ensure timely recovery of equipment breakdowns and minimize production impact.
• Monitor equipment performance, downtime and maintenance KPIs.

2. FOL Assembly Expertise

• Provide technical leadership for FOL Assembly equipment and processes.
• Support equipment such as dice attach, wire bonding or other relevant FOL assembly equipment.
• Analyze recurring equipment problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, Quality and other support functions to resolve equipment-related issues.

3. Team Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop a team of maintenance technicians/engineers.
• Plan manpower, shift coverage and maintenance activities according to production requirements.
• Assign and prioritize maintenance tasks based on equipment criticality and production needs.
• Develop team technical competency through coaching, training and knowledge sharing.
• Drive accountability for maintenance response time, equipment recovery and preventive maintenance completion.
• Promote a strong safety, quality and continuous-improvement culture within the team.

4. Equipment Improvement & Continuous Improvement

• Lead initiatives to improve equipment OEE, MTBF and MTBI.
• Identify opportunities to reduce equipment downtime, maintenance cost and recurring failures.
• Drive equipment modification, optimization and automation improvement projects.
• Implement FMEA-based maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
• Support new equipment installation, qualification, commissioning and production ramp-up.
• Evaluate and implement spare-parts optimization and cost-reduction initiatives.

5. Data & Performance Management

• Analyze equipment downtime and maintenance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Establish action plans for chronic and major equipment issues.
• Prepare regular equipment performance and maintenance reports.
• Track key maintenance KPIs including:
  • Equipment Availability
  • OEE
  • MTBF
  • MTBI
  • PM compliance
  • Breakdown response/recovery
  • Spare-parts consumption

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety and environmental requirements.
• Ensure proper implementation of LOTO and maintenance safety procedures.
• Maintain equipment documentation, maintenance records and standard operating procedures.
• Support internal and external audits related to equipment and maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or equipment maintenance, preferably in Assembly .
• Strong hands-on experience with FOL Assembly equipment is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis .
• Experience leading or supervising a team of technicians or engineers.
• Good understanding of equipment reliability and maintenance methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and support production needs.
• Willingness to work on an on-call basis , when required.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:

• Die Attach
• Wire Bonding
• Automated material handling
• Vision systems
• Servo / motion control
• Equipment data collection and monitoring

• Lead from the front during major equipment breakdowns.
• Make quick and effective decisions under production pressure.
• Develop technicians into strong technical resources.
