The HR Operations Specialist 1 supports the Senior HR Operations Specialist with people management and related matters for the designated client(s) within Operations and ensures alignment with the business goals. The role makes a leading contribution towards effective front line service delivery within HR, working directly with managers / superintendents and the HR business services team and other internal or external stakeholders across a range of operational HR activity including employee relations, performance management, resource planning, learning and development, talent reviews, talent succession and planning and making a significant contribution to implementation of wider HR strategies.

- Acts as the point of the contact for line management and employees, provides timely, accurate and robust advice and daily guidance on the full range of HR issues.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures, labour law and where appropriate make recommendations to improve or amend
- Builds and manages strong relationships with different functions across the organization, including union delegates to achieve a harmonious working environment.
- Proactively engages with line management to interpret needs, determine requirements, identify, and support the delivery of solutions to various HR-related matters including but not limited to: policy changes, disciplinary process, promotions, org charts design and maintenance, employee transfers, employee development and retention
- Advises on and conducts corrective action, performance improvement, and/or termination meetings with employees as needed
- Advise line management as appropriate to anticipate any potential concerns in advance of industrial / employee relations matters occurring.
- Ensure all HR casework is planned and undertaken in a manner, which minimises operational / financial risk, with minimal requirement to escalate matters to senior management and judging when to seek more specialist/legal advice.
- Contributes to and supports the annual performance process including but not limited to: annual performance reviews and talent management and succession management reviews
- Prepares, analyzes and interprets information related to HR activities, ensuring accurate reports and analyses are completed and shared with functions and management as required.
- Contributes to the design, roll-out, and training of new programs, initiatives, and system-related processes.
- Works with the Recruitment team to conduct HR interviews and debrief with the hiring manager as needed.
- In conjunction with line management assess / identify training needs for employees.
- Work closely with line management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale and increase productivity.
- Maintain harmonious working environment with colleagues and employees
- Maintain regular contact with staff to explain policies and communicate management decisions
- Ensure employees skills, behaviors, values, attitudes are in consonance with “The Kinross Way Forward”.
- Communicate change initiatives to employees and manage the risks, challenges and success associated.
- Provide an effective on-boarding program for new employees including sign off contracts of employment and communication of all compliance documents e.g. Internal Rules and Regulation
- Stays current on best practices and trends related to local HR and legislations and incorporates this information into work assignments and/or to improve products or services provided.
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures for continual improvements in efficacy of department and services performed.
- Responsible for ensuring that workplace safety procedures are being followed and addressed.
- Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set.
- Contribute in complex and cross-functional HR projects.
Études et expérience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or Social Sciences.
- Excellent knowledge of the principles and practices of good industrial relations, general HR policies / procedures, and Labor Law
- Very good French and English level both speaking and writing.
- Ability to work with confidential information and materials
- Good investigative, analytical, problem-solving and information- gathering skills
- Sound negotiating, mediation, conflict resolution, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform under pressure, respond quickly to requests, achieve effective results and meet tight deadlines
- Capable of working effectively independently and/or as part of a team
- Demonstrated proficiency using Performance and Learning Management Systems; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to build and maintain effective collateral and cross-functional working relationship.
