About the role

We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join our small accounting practice. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting work for a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients. This role is suitable for someone who is organised, enjoys working with numbers, and is keen to develop practical accounting experience in a small-practice environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bookkeeping and accounting entries for clients.

• Maintain accurate records of sales, purchases, expenses, receipts and payments.

• Prepare and maintain general ledgers and accounting schedules.

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Prepare monthly management accounts and basic financial reports.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.

• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for tax and audit purposes.

• Assist in preparing accounting and tax-related documents for clients.

• Follow up with clients for missing invoices, receipts and other accounting documents.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience is preferred.

• Candidates with small-practice or accounting-firm experience will have an advantage.

• Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as SQL Accounting, AutoCount, Xero, QuickBooks, UBS, or similar systems is an advantage.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

• Good attention to detail and accuracy.

• Able to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.

• Good communication and organisational skills.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
