The Role

We are looking for an experienced and competent audio technician to join our growing ‘production’ team at British International School - Marlborough College Malaysia. Responsibilities will include setting up and breaking down audio equipment, running cables, effective placement and testing of microphones, the correct set-up and placement of electronic instruments including any necessary amplification (electric guitars, keyboards, etc.) and other equipment. The College runs both analogue and digital mixing consoles and appropriate knowledge and experience in using such desks is paramount. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of the internal and external components of common audio and sound equipment and the knowledge to diagnose and fix issues alongside routinely maintaining all of the College equipment. Knowledge of sound production is an important part of the role and candidates will be expected to be familiar with a variety of DAWs including Logic Pro X. Candidates will preferably have experience of working with a range of different age groups, including young children. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience of working on a wide range of productions, including, but not limited to, solo performances and presentations; chamber music performances; larger scale drama and music productions; drama monologue performances; large choral presentations; popular music concerts (e.g. jazz, rock and pop). The facilities for the Drama/Music departments are extensive and range from a black-box theatre space and assembly halls to classrooms and a recording studio.

SCOPE

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Audio Visual & Engineering Technician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all AV equipment. The incumbent is responsible to set-up, operate and troubleshoot the AV equipment, devices and systems and to ensure that the equipment is fully operational as and when needed.
