Key Responsibilities1. Safety Management• Enforce compliance with:- Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994- Explosives Act 1957• Conduct daily site inspections (pit, crusher, workshop, stockpile areas).• Monitor high-risk activities: drilling, blasting, working at height, confined space.• Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety rules.• Lead incident/accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Health Management• Monitor occupational health risks (dust, noise, vibration, heat stress).• Coordinate medical surveillance programs (audiometric test, lung function test).• Ensure compliance with exposure limits (e.g., silica dust).• Promote worker health awareness and toolbox talks.
Environmental Management• Ensure compliance with:- Environmental Quality Act 1974• Monitor environmental parameters:- Air quality (dust deposition)- Water discharge - Monthly- Noise levels• Manage scheduled waste in accordance with DOE requirements.• Implement erosion control, sediment pond, and pollution prevention measures.4. Documentation & Compliance• Maintain HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control).• Prepare and submit reports to:- Department of Occupational Safety and Health- Department of Environment• Ensure all permits, licenses, and statutory inspections are valid.• Maintain safety records, incident logs, and audit reports.
