The M&E Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all mechanical and electrical services in construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, power distribution, and fire protection systems . This includes developing design strategies and detailed plans that meet project goals while adhering to building codes, regulations, and industry standards . The Engineer shall coordinate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and clients to integrate M&E systems seamlessly into building designs, address interdisciplinary conflicts, and resolve design clashes to prevent construction delays and cost overruns .
The Engineer shall conduct thorough analysis and simulations to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of M&E systems, optimizing designs to minimize energy consumption and reduce environmental impact . The role involves preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents, as well as conducting site surveys and assessments to identify project requirements and constraints . The M&E Engineer shall provide technical oversight and guidance to construction teams during project execution, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations .
Additional responsibilities include managing M&E subcontractors' submissions of method statements, drawings, materials, samples, and work progress; preparing Coordinated Services Drawings (CSD) and penetration drawings; coordinating with the BIM team; attending progress meetings; and ensuring M&E works are performed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards . The Engineer shall also carry out site inspections, monitor quality and site progress, and verify subcontractor claims .
