Qualifications (Kelayakan)

Education

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of Sijil / Diploma / Vocational training in:

  • Automotive Technology (Diesel / Heavy Vehicle)

  • Mechanical Engineering (Automotive)

  • SKM (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia) Tahap 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance

• Fresh graduates from ILP (Institut Latihan Perindustrian), GiatMara, ADTEC, or Politeknik are welcome.

Technical Knowledge (Basic)

• Understand basic diesel engine components (enjin diesel).

• Able to use common hand tools (spana, socket set, torque wrench).

• Familiarity with Hino, Isuzu, Fuso, Scania, or Volvo trucks is an advantage – but not required.

Language & Communication

• Bahasa Malaysia (spoken and written) – required.

• Basic English – helpful for manuals and diagnostic tools.

Physical & Attitude

• Physically fit – able to work under lori, lift up to 40kg, stand for long hours.

• Willing to work in hot, oily, noisy workshop environment.

• Eager to learn, honest, and punctual.

• No serious disciplinary record – clean attitude for workshop safety.

• Monthly stipend: RM [800–1,200] depending on qualifications.

• Hands-on training with experienced head mechanic (ketua mekanik) – real Malaysian workshop environment.

. Preventive Maintenance (Pemeriksaan & Servis Rutin)

• Assist in performing scheduled servicing (tukar minyak hitam, minyak gear, minyak power steering, penapis minyak, penapis udara).

• Conduct tyre checks (tekanan tayar, haus bunga) and brake inspections (pad brek, drum, air brake system).

• Check and top up all fluids including coolant, brake fluid, and AdBlue (DEF for Euro 4/5 trucks).

• Document findings in servis checklist and report any abnormalities.

2. Basic Diagnostics & Repairs (Diagnosis & Baiki)

• Support senior technicians in troubleshooting common local truck issues:

  • Engine overheat (enjin panas) – radiator, fan clutch, thermostat.

  • Electrical faults (contoh: alternator, starter motor, lampu lori).

  • Air brake system issues (leaking air, brake chamber, relay valve).

• Learn to use diagnostic tools such as Hino DX, Isuzu IDSS, or generic J1939 scanners.

• Assist in minor repairs: ganti hose, tighten belt, clean EGR valve, replace wear parts.

3. Inspection for Puspakom & JPJ Compliance

• Help prepare trucks for Puspakom inspections (yearly or upon vehicle transfer).

• Check items required by JPJ: lampu, hon, brek, tayar, cermin, wiper, speedometer.

• Assist in ensuring trucks meet Euro 4 / Euro 5 emission standards (where applicable).

4. Workshop Safety & 5S (Housekeeping)

• Follow safety rules: guna PPE (kasut keselamatan, sarung tangan, cermin mata), angkat berat dengan betul.

• Maintain clean workspace – 5S practice (Sisih, Susun, Sapu, Seragam, Sentiasa amal).

• Proper handling of used oil, batteries, and hazardous waste (ikut DOE guidelines).

5. Learning & Skill Development

• Attend in-house training on air brake systems, diesel common rail, and aftertreatment (SCR/DPF).

• Complete modules on Puspakom inspection criteriaandbasic electrical troubleshooting.

• Join morning toolbox meetings and post-repair review sessions.

6. Documentation

• Record work hours and job cards in workshop management system (e.g., manual or simple software).

• Note parts used (suku tahun / part no.) and recommend next service date.
