Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing occupational therapy intervention, one to one sessionprograms for children with special needs to support their developmental progress, sensory integration, motor skills, adaptive behavior, and daily living skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct developmental, sensory, motor, and functional assessments for children.
2. Develop and implement Individualized Intervention Plans (IIP) based on each child’s needs and goals.
3. Provide individual and group occupational therapy sessions according to intervention objectives.
4. Support children in improving:
* Fine motor skills
* Gross motor skills
* Sensory processing and regulation
* Hand-eye coordination
* Attention and focus
* Self-help and daily living skills
* Emotional regulation
* Social participation skills
5. Prepare progress reports and provide regular updates to parents regarding the child’s development.
6. Conduct parent consultations and provide guidance on strategies to support the child at home.
7. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including behavior therapists, intervention teachers, psychologists, and communication program teams.
8. Maintain accurate documentation, including assessment records, session notes, intervention plans, and progress reports.
9. Ensure therapy rooms, equipment, and intervention materials are safe, clean, and appropriate for use.
10. Participate in team meetings, case discussions, staff training, and centre programs or events.
11. Monitor each child’s progress and adjust intervention strategies when necessary.
12. Adhere to the centre’s policies, SOPs, confidentiality standards, and professional ethics.
Job Requirements:
* Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with the relevant professional body (if applicable)
* Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, or special needs is an advantage
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and team members
* Patient, compassionate, proactive, and able to work independently as well as in a team
* Good report writing and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledge of Sensory Integration approaches
* Pediatric occupational therapy experience
* Behaviour management skills
* Play-based intervention strategies
* Strong observation and problem-solving skills
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
