Role Summary

The Business Development Executive is responsible for the commercial success of our agricultural transformation projects where he or she takes the data, assessment and diagnosis from the Farm Consultant and the social trust from the Liaison Officer and turns them into a financially viable, persuasive business case for the farmer. This role will sit at the center of the "Technical-Social-Financial" triangle, working with our Agronomists and Liaison Officers to draft customized commercial proposals. Your goal is to prove to farmers that modernizing their highland farm is not just a technological upgrade, but a profitable, sustainable, and risk-mitigating business investment. This person must understand that they aren't just selling "hardware"; they are selling a higher standard of living, an efficient farming operations and long-term financial security for farmers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Strategy & Proposal Development

  • Customized Solutions: Collaborate with the Farm Consultant to understand technical needs and the Project Liaison to understand farmer constraints to build bespoke project proposals.
  • Financial Modeling: Develop detailed Cost-Benefit Analyses (CBA) and ROI projections that clearly show farmers their "Payback Period" and long-term profit increase.
  • Pricing & Quotations: Manage project costing, including greenhouse structures, IoT hardware, installation labor, and ongoing consultancy fees.

2. Sales & Conversion

  • Pitching to Stakeholders: Present modern farming solutions to individual farmers, family estates, and large-scale agricultural cooperatives.
  • Negotiation: Navigate complex negotiations that often involve land-use rights, profit-sharing models, or government-subsidized financing.
  • Closing the Gap: Bridge the gap between "high-tech aspirations" and "practical budgets," ensuring the solution offered is one the farmer can actually afford and maintain.

3. Market Intelligence & Networking

  • Market Mapping: Identify high-potential highland regions and crops (e.g., berries, flowers, specialty vegetables) that would benefit most from greenhouse technology.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain relationships with financial institutions, local government agencies, and agricultural distributors to facilitate easier farmer adoption.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years in Business Development or Technical Sales, ideally within Agribusiness, Construction, or Industrial Technology.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong ability to build spreadsheets, manage CAPEX/OPEX calculations, and understand agricultural financing.
  • Education: Degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Business Management, or a related field.

  • Commercial Sharpness: You don't just see a farm; you see a business. You can quickly calculate the cost of inefficiency and the value of a 20% yield increase.
  • Practical & Grounded: You avoid selling "over-engineered" solutions. You focus on what is effective and sustainable for the specific farmer's context.
  • Integrity & Trustworthiness: In agricultural communities, your word is your bond. You must be honest about risks as well as rewards.
  • Strategic Thinker: You look beyond the first sale, thinking about how one successful greenhouse can lead to a whole region transforming.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
