GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Steward performs cleaning, dishwashing, and sanitation duties to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of kitchen areas, utensils, and workstations. The role supports waste management, food trolley handling, and compliance with hospital hygiene, food safety, and accreditation standards.
Main Responsibilities
Wash, sanitize, and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, and cookware as per standard procedures.
Clean and maintain dishwashers, grease traps, refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas.
Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors, corridors, and storage areas as scheduled.
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, and storage racks after meal service.
Participate in routine deep-cleaning schedules for kitchen and dishwashing areas.
Remove garbage, sanitize containers, and maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas
Perform daily cleaning routines during opening and closing duties.
Operate cleaning agents, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) safely.
Receive, organize, and store stewarding supplies such as detergents, cleaning tools, and PPE.
Report faulty equipment, damaged tools, or unsafe conditions to the Senior Steward (where applicable) / Head Chef.
Deliver and collect food trolleys in coordination with Food Services Assistants.
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of kitchen areas, ensuring compliance with HALAL, food safety, and hygiene standards.
Liaise with kitchen and food service staff to coordinate timely completion of cleaning and stewarding activities.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform any other responsibilities assigned by immediate superior or hospital management.
