Job Summary

The Sales Manager – Government Segment is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with government ministries, agencies, statutory bodies, government-linked companies (GLCs), embassies, and related organizations. The incumbent is expected to drive room, banquet, meeting, conference, and catering revenue through strategic sales activities, account management, and business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the government sector.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing government accounts to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Conduct regular sales calls, presentations, and networking activities with key decision-makers and procurement officers.
  • Generate room nights, meetings, conferences, events, and banquet business from government-related organizations.
  • Prepare and submit proposals, quotations, and tender documents in a timely manner.
  • Monitor government procurement portals and identify potential business opportunities.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, sales missions, and industry networking events as required.
  • Develop account plans for key government accounts and establish strategies to grow market share.
  • Maintain accurate and updated records of all sales activities, client contacts, and business opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic account reviews and market analysis to identify trends and customer requirements.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and service recovery when necessary.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets as established by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and business agreements within approved guidelines.
  • Maximize revenue opportunities across all hotel revenue streams, including rooms, food & beverage, events, and ancillary services.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market conditions to maintain competitiveness within the government segment.
  • Work closely with the Revenue, Reservations, Front Office, Banquet, and Operations teams to ensure smooth execution of client requirements.
  • Attend departmental meetings, sales meetings, and revenue strategy discussions.
  • Prepare weekly sales reports, production reports, forecasts, and account activity updates.
  • Ensure all contracts, correspondence, and documentation comply with hotel policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Proven experience handling government accounts, ministries, agencies, GLCs, or institutional clients is highly preferred.
  • Experience in hotel sales, corporate sales, or MICE sales will be an added advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and tender procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and hotel sales systems.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
