The Project Engineer (Plumbing) is responsible for the technical execution, design coordination, site supervision, and progress monitoring of internal cold water supply, sanitary plumbing, and rainwater downpipe (RWDP) systems. This role serves as the key liaison between the project management team, main contractor, consultants, and site supervisors, ensuring all works are completed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with local authority regulations, technical specifications, and safety standards.
Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of site experience in plumbing, sanitary, or M&E building services within the construction industry.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems (e.g., booster and ejector pump systems, centralized water tanks, VCP piping, grease traps, and external drainage networks).
Familiarity with local building codes, plumbing regulations, and Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL).
Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing review and modifications, and Microsoft Office (Excel/Project). Knowledge of BIM/Revit is an added advantage.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication skills for coordination with contractors, consultants, and site teams.

1. Technical & Engineering Management
Design & Shop Drawing Review: Review tender drawings, schematic layouts, and architectural plans to identify discrepancies or clashes with structural elements and other M&E services (e.g., HVAC, electrical, fire protection systems).
Method Statements: Prepare, review, and implement Method Statements (MOS) for plumbing works, including booster pump systems, water storage tanks, underground drainage, and piping materials such as copper, uPVC, and HDPE.
Material Submissions: Prepare material approval submissions (MAT) ensuring all pipes, fittings, valves, and equipment comply with project specifications and relevant standards (e.g., SPAN/JKR requirements).
2. Site Execution & Supervision
Progress Tracking: Monitor daily site activities and track progress against the master construction schedule to ensure key milestones are achieved.
Site Coordination: Coordinate with main contractors and site teams on pipe routing, structural sleeves, penetrations, and equipment plinth requirements.
Material Control: Manage on-site material inventory, issue material requisitions, and coordinate deliveries with suppliers to prevent shortages or delays.
3. Quality Assurance & Testing
Testing & Commissioning (T&C): Plan, execute, and witness plumbing system tests including hydrostatic pressure testing, gravity/smoke testing for drainage systems, and flushing/chlorination of potable water systems.
Defect Rectification: Conduct site inspections to identify defects, issue rectification instructions, and ensure all works meet QA/QC standards prior to consultant inspections.
4. Contractual & Financial Support
Progress Claims: Work closely with the Quantity Surveying (QS) team to verify site measurements and physical progress for monthly progress claims.
Variation Orders (VO): Identify variations arising from design changes, site conditions, or deviations, and document them with supporting evidence such as photos and site records for claims submission.
5. Authority & Client Liaison
Authority Compliance: Coordinate inspections and approvals with relevant water and sewerage authorities for final connection and certification.
Handover Documentation: Prepare as-built drawings, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and warranty documents to support smooth project handover to the client or building management.
