Job Description & Requirements :
An established company in the automation industry is currently seeking a experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the technical integration, architecture definition, and system level design of complex automation equipment and production systems.
This role is responsible for translating customer requirements into complete system solutions, coordinating mechanical, electrical, software, vision, process, and controls teams, and ensuring that the final equipment solution meets performance, quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
The Senior Systems Engineer will act as the technical bridge between customers, project management, engineering teams, and
manufacturing teams throughout the full project lifecycle from concept design to final acceptance.
The successful candidate must be open to international assignments(business trip to several countries) and will undergoinitial training in China for 3 to 6 months to gain hands-on experience with the company’s automation systems and processes.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics, Control Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience & Qualifications:
5-10 years of experience in systems engineering, automation equipment design, machine integration, or technical project execution.
Experience with complex automation equipment, production lines, inspection systems, assembly systems, robotics, or smart factory solutions.
Proven experience coordinating cross-functional engineering teams.
Experience supporting projects from concept design through build, commissioning, FAT, SAT, and final acceptance.
Experience in semiconductor, optical module, consumer electronics
Experience with machine vision, high-precision motion systems, laser processing, dispensing, inspection, sorting, or packaging equipment.
Familiarity with MES integration, OPC UA, SECS/GEM, industrial Ethernet, or equipment data traceability systems.
Experience working with global customers from the US, Europe, Japan, or Southeast Asia.
PMP, INCOSE, Six Sigma, or equivalent technical/project certification is a plus.
Technical & Soft Skills:
Strong understanding of automation equipment architecture and system integration.
Familiarity with mechanical design, electrical systems, PLC/control systems, motion control, machine vision, robotics, software interfaces, and industrial communication protocols.
Ability to understand and define process flow, equipment layout, control sequence, data flow, and module interface requirements.
Experience with troubleshooting machine performance, cycle time, yield, stability, and reliability issues.
Knowledge of safety standards, equipment acceptance processes, and manufacturing quality requirements is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Excellent cross-functional communication and coordination skills.
Strong ownership and ability to drive technical issues to closure.
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Good documentation, reporting, and presentation skills.
Able to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, engineers, and management.
Language Requirements:
Strong English reading and writing ability.
Fluent spoken English is preferred, especially for international customer communication.
Chinese communication ability is preferred for internal engineering coordination.
Responsibilities
System Architecture & Solution Design
Lead the development of system architecture for automation equipment and production line solutions.
Convert customer requirements, URS, process needs, and technical specifications into practical system-level designs.
Define equipment functions, process flow, machine layout, module interfaces, control logic, data flow, and integration requirements.
Work with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate technical feasibility, risks, and design trade-offs.
Support concept design, proposal development, technical reviews, and design validation.
Requirement Management
Analyze customer requirements and clarify technical gaps, risks, and assumptions.
Break down system requirements into mechanical, electrical, software, vision, controls, safety, and process requirements.
Maintain requirement traceability from customer specification through design, testing, and acceptance.
Support review of URS, FRS, technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and change requests.
Ensure all key system requirements are clearly communicated to internal teams.
Cross-Functional Technical Coordination
Coordinate technical work between mechanical, electrical, controls, software, vision, process, manufacturing, and service
teams.
Lead system-level design reviews and technical alignment meetings.
Identify interface risks between different engineering disciplines and drive closure of open technical issues.
Support engineering teams in resolving complex system integration problems.
Ensure subsystem designs are aligned with overall equipment performance targets.
System Integration & Validation
Lead system integration activities during equipment assembly, debugging, testing, and commissioning.
Define system-level test plans, validation methods, and acceptance criteria.
Support FAT, SAT, process validation, cycle-time verification, yield improvement, and customer acceptance activities.
Analyze machine performance data and support troubleshooting for system-level issues.
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for integration, performance, reliability, and process issues.
Technical Risk & Issue Management
Identify technical risks early in the project lifecycle and propose mitigation plans.
Support project managers in evaluating the impact of technical issues on schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Lead technical escalation discussions when system-level issues cannot be solved within individual functions.
Document key technical decisions, risks, trade-offs, and lessons learned.
Support continuous improvement of design standards, integration methods, and system engineering processes.
Customer Technical Interface
Participate in technical discussions with international and domestic customers.
Explain system design concepts, technical solutions, risks, and project status clearly and professionally.
Support customer design reviews, requirement clarification, technical proposals, and acceptance discussions.
Translate customer feedback into clear internal engineering actions.
Build customer confidence through strong technical ownership and structured communication.
Documentation & Standards
Prepare system architecture documents, design review materials, test plans, technical reports, and issue analysis reports.
Maintain clear documentation of system requirements, interfaces, control logic, data flow, and acceptance results.
Support creation and improvement of internal engineering standards, design templates, and best practices.
Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and traceable.
