Job Summary
The Transport Systems Engineering Manager oversees planning, implementation, maintenance, and operational management of transport engineering systems and infrastructure projects. This role leads technical teams, coordinates stakeholders, ensures compliance, and drives successful project and maintenance delivery.
Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Management
- Lead transport systems engineering projects through planning, implementation, and maintenance to ensure timely and quality delivery
- Oversee installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of transport systems and infrastructure to meet operational standards
- Manage engineering support for Passenger Information Systems, CCTV, wireless communications, fibre optic networks, public address, network infrastructure, radio communication, and control systems
- Ensure engineering activities comply with customer specifications, regulatory standards, and operational requirements
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot engineering and maintenance issues to maintain system performance
Project Management
- Develop and manage project schedules, manpower allocation, and resource utilization to meet deadlines and budgets
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and stakeholder alignment
- Monitor project progress, costs, risks, and deliverables to mitigate issues and ensure successful outcomes
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, method statements, and engineering submissions for project transparency and compliance
- Support tender preparation and technical proposal development to secure new projects
Operations & Maintenance
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities to optimize transport systems infrastructure reliability and uptime
- Respond promptly to operational incidents and technical faults to minimize service disruptions
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures, operational workflows, and service improvement initiatives to enhance system performance
- Monitor system reliability, uptime, and service performance metrics to drive continuous operational excellence
Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineers, supervisors, and technical personnel to build a competent and motivated team
- Conduct technical training and competency development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Enforce workplace safety procedures and company policies to maintain a safe working environment
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, regulatory authority requirements, company safety procedures, and customer site standards
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and incident investigations to promote safety awareness and prevent accidents
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and audit records for regulatory and operational transparency
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Transport Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience in transport systems, telecommunications, infrastructure, or related industries
- Experience managing engineering or maintenance teams
- Knowledge of transport systems infrastructure and low-voltage engineering systems
- Familiarity with fibre optic systems, structured cabling, networking, and wireless communications
- Understanding of engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Experience with project coordination and contractor management
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- WSQ Workplace Safety certifications
- Project management certifications (e.g., PMP) advantageous
- Relevant OEM/vendor technical certifications advantageous
- Experience with transport infrastructure projects, railway systems, or large-scale technical deployments advantageous
Other Information
Working Conditions
- Combination of office, site, and operational environment work
- May require after-hours support for operational maintenance activities and project deployments
- Travel to customer sites across Singapore may be required
