About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) to support digital transformation and system enhancement initiatives.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable, high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis
- Engage stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and objectives
- Elicit, analyze, and document both functional and non-functional requirements
- Produce high-quality deliverables such as BRDs, FRDs, and user stories
- Validate requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness
2. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key liaison between business users, product owners, and technical teams
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and walkthrough sessions
- Ensure alignment of expectations and clear communication across all parties
3. BFSI Domain Delivery
Support initiatives across:
- Core Banking Systems
- Payments (e.g., cross-border, digital wallets, SWIFT, ISO 20022)
- Lending / Loans / Credit platforms
- Insurance policy administration and claims systems
- Regulatory and compliance reporting
- Ensure solutions adhere to financial regulations and compliance standards
4. Solution Design & Validation
- Collaborate with architects and developers on solution design
- Support integration discussions, including API and data mapping
- Participate in UAT planning, test case preparation, and defect tracking
5. Process Improvement
- Analyze current workflows and identify optimization opportunities
- Document as-is and to-be processes (process modelling)
- Support automation and digital transformation initiatives
Required Qualifications
Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within BFSI domain
- Strong documentation skills (BRD, FRD, user stories)
- Good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
Domain Expertise (at least one)
- Banking (Retail / Corporate / Digital)
- Payments (SWIFT, ISO 20022, etc.)
- Insurance (Life / General)
- Risk, Compliance, or Regulatory Reporting
Tools & Technologies
- Jira, Confluence (or similar tools)
- SQL (basic to intermediate level)
- Process modelling tools (Visio, Bizagi, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Malaysian or regional financial institutions
- Knowledge of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) regulations
- Exposure to API, microservices, and cloud platforms
- Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or Agile certifications
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, client-facing environments
- Strong documentation and presentation abilities
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset
Experience Level
- Mid-Level: 3–6 years
- Senior: 6+ years (including leadership/lead BA responsibilities)
