about the job

As a HealthShare Architect, you will hold a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic vision, design, and governance of our Health Information Exchange (HIE) and interoperability platform. Built on InterSystems HealthShare and IRIS for Health, you will ensure our architecture is scalable, secure, and compliant with global healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FHIR mandates).

• Strategic Architectural Design: Define the technical roadmap and future-state architecture for the HealthShare platform, including cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployment models.

• Large-Scale Integration: Lead the design and implementation of complex clinical data workflows using InterSystems IRIS/HealthConnect, ensuring high availability and performance.

• Platform Authority: Serve as the subject matter expert for all HealthShare components, including Unified Care Record (UCR), Clinical Viewer, EMPI, and Care Management.

• Technical Governance: Establish and enforce standards for ObjectScript, DTL, XSLT, and BPL development within the interoperability environment.

• Standard Modernization: Drive the strategy for migrating to modern interoperability standards, particularly HL7 FHIR, ensuring regulatory readiness.

• Security & Privacy: Manage complex security configurations, including consent management and data masking, to meet strict healthcare privacy requirements.

• Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to developers and analysts, performing code reviews and translating business requirements into robust architectural blueprints.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the key liaison between application, infrastructure, and external HIE partners during complex deployments.

skills and experience required

• Seniority: Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in Healthcare IT.

• Specialization: At least 5 years specifically architecting solutions using InterSystems HealthShare, Ensemble, or Caché.

• Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of the InterSystems stack, including IRIS for Health, HealthConnect, and Caché ObjectScript.

• Interoperability Standards: Deep expertise in HL7 V2, CDA/CCDA, IHE profiles, and comprehensive FHIR implementation.

• Infrastructure: Proven experience in designing high-volume integration productions and tuning InterSystems databases (Globals, indexes).

• Cloud Proficiency: Experience with architecture and deployment in major cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.

• Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both executive leadership and technical teams.

preferred qualifications

• Certification: InterSystems Certified Architect.

• EHR Integration: Experience integrating HealthShare with major clinical systems like Epic or Cerner.

• Analytics: Familiarity with Health Insight or reporting tools like DeepSee.

• DevOps: Experience with Git, GitLab, or CI/CD pipelines within InterSystems deployments.
