Your new company

The Senior Manager - Plastic & Rubber will spearhead the business development, sales growth, and market expansion of the segment (resins, additives, pigments, etc.) within Malaysia (and potentially broader Southeast Asia as required). The incumbent will manage key customer relationships, lead the sales team, develop sales strategies aligned to market trends and company objectives, and collaborate with marketing, R&D, supply chain, and technical service functions to deliver solutions that meet customer and end-user needs.

Your new role

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the business: set targets, define the Plastic & Rubber market segment, identify new growth opportunities.
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing customers and drive new business development with target customers.
  • Lead and mentor the sales team (10 people) - define KPIs, provide coaching, performance review, incentivise achievement.
  • Collaborate with technical service/R&D and marketing teams to provide value-added solutions: support customer trials, presentations, product specification, problem-solving, and application development.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, regulatory changes and provide input into product portfolio development and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, reports; review performance against targets, propose corrective actions where necessary.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Educational Background - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Plastic Technology, or related discipline; advanced degrees (M.Sc./PhD) are an advantage.
  • Industry Experience - 7-10 years in sales or business development within the plastics and rubber chemicals sector, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Knowledge - Proven expertise in selling plastics, rubber, and additives, with strong understanding of formulations, applications, end‑user needs, and value propositions.
  • Industry Network - Established contacts across manufacturers, applicators, and regulatory bodies in Malaysia, with regional exposure in Southeast Asia is a plus.
  • Commercial & Leadership Skills - Demonstrated ability to craft sales strategies, achieve targets, manage key accounts, and lead high‑performing sales teams.
