TechX Ventures
(TXV) is HTX’s strategic vehicle for advancing Singapore’s leadership in the Public Safety and Security (PSS) domain. TXV integrates global event platforms with Hatch’s innovation incubation capabilities, acting as a catalyst for ecosystem development and a driver of Singapore’s international standing in Science and Technology for PSS.
Through flagship events such as the Milipol TechX (MTX) and the upcoming DEF CON Singapore, TXV creates world-class convening platforms that connect governments, industry, innovators, and researchers to accelerate PSS innovation and strengthen international partnerships.
Role:
The Analyst supports the Scouting & Insights Unit by conducting market and technology research, evaluating startups and companies, and generating actionable insights that inform innovation opportunities for
Hatch and its Mission Partners (MPs). The role focuses on business and
strategic analysis, company due diligence, market scanning, and intelligence development.
The position contributes to building a strong pipeline of relevant technologies and startups, strengthening Hatch’s capability to support
public safety and homeland security innovation.
Key Responsibilities
A. Market & Technology Research
- Conduct research on emerging technologies, market trends, and innovation developments relevant to public safety.
- Produce research briefs, thematic insights, sector analyses, and opportunity maps.
- Monitor global ecosystem developments, industry movements, and innovation patterns.
B. Startup & Company Evaluation
- Identify startups aligned with Challenge Statements (CS) and MP innovation needs.
- Conduct business and commercial due diligence, covering business models, traction, market fit, risks, and competitive positioning.
- Prepare structured evaluation reports and recommendations for internal decision-making.
- Maintain updated assessments of startup maturity and suitability for innovation trials.
C. Scouting Support
- Assist in proactive scouting efforts, including pipeline development, sourcing, and ecosystem engagement.
- Maintain and update a curated list of relevant startups and technologies.
- Support initial outreach, information gathering, and exploratory conversations with startups.
D. Insight Synthesis & Concept Support
- Synthesise research findings into actionable insights for Partner Success and Programs.
- Contribute to conceptual development of innovation themes and opportunity spaces.
- Support refinement of Challenge Statements through analytical inputs.
E. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with
Partner Success for CS validation, insight sharing, and MP alignment
Programs Unit for startup selection and program delivery inputs
Technologists for combined technical-commercial assessments - Ensure timely sharing of analysis, insights, and evaluation outputs.
F. Database & Knowledge Management
- Maintain accurate data in the startup database, including evaluations, scouting notes, and engagement records.
- Ensure analytical outputs are systematically archived and accessible to other teams.
G. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare structured reports, slides, and internal briefs.
- Support periodic updates on trend intelligence, scouting progress, and startup pipeline health.
- Ensure clarity, rigour, and consistency in all documentation.

Qualifications & Experience
Analyst (Entry–Mid Level)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Innovation, Engineering, Public Policy, or related fields.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, consulting, innovation, or startup ecosystems.
- Experience in due diligence or market analysis is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
Senior Analyst (Mid–Senior Level)
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (optional).
- 5–8+ years ofbrelevant experience in research, market intelligence, strategy, venture/startup evaluation, or innovation roles.
- Demonstrated experience owning analytical workstreams and producing strategic insights.
- Experience in due diligence or market analysis is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience engaging senior stakeholders or mentoring junior staff is preferred.
