Job Summary
A Calibration Engineer specializing in dimensional measurements ensures the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of measuring instruments, supporting quality control and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform calibration of dimensional instruments including vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges, gauge blocks, plug gauges, ring gauges, measuring tapes, and precision length systems to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Conduct calibration procedures using reference standards traceable to national or international standards to maintain measurement integrity.
- Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to verify dimensional compliance.
- Prepare and issue calibration certificates incorporating uncertainty calculations to document measurement confidence.
- Maintain detailed calibration records and ensure adherence to ISO 17025 quality management system requirements.
- Perform measurement uncertainty analysis for dimensional parameters to support reliable measurement results.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of calibration equipment to preserve instrument performance.
- Support internal and external audits by providing calibration data and demonstrating compliance with quality system standards.
- Troubleshoot measurement issues and recommend corrective actions to resolve discrepancies and improve measurement processes.
Required competencies and certifications
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards to ensure compliance with international calibration and testing requirements.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Strong understanding of dimensional metrology principles to accurately perform calibrations.
- Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings to interpret measurement specifications.
- Experience with calibration software and documentation to manage calibration data efficiently.
- Attention to detail and high accuracy in measurements to maintain quality standards.
