Our client is an iconic, world-renowned multinational and premier brand specializing in premium gourmet syrups, sauces, and fruit purées for the professional beverage and culinary industries. Renowned globally for their quality, heritage, and innovative flavor profiles, their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Selangor serves as a critical hub for their rapid growth and success across the Asia-Pacific region. They are seeking a dynamic, hands-on manufacturing leader to drive production excellence, food safety, and operational efficiency.
The Production Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimizing all day-to-day manufacturing activities within a fast-paced, multi-shift food production environment. This role focuses on executing production schedules, maximizing line efficiency (OEE), and enforcing uncompromising food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards. By fostering a disciplined culture of accountability and continuous improvement, the successful candidate will drive yield optimization and resource efficiency.
1. Production Planning & Operational Execution
Target Achievement: Prepare, optimize, and execute daily/weekly production plans to meet volume targets, quality specifications, and On-Time Delivery (OTD) schedules.
Resource Management: Maximize output and minimize operational downtime through the strategic and cost-effective utilization of manpower, equipment, and raw materials.
Workflow Optimization: Plan, design, and update production workflow policies and SOPs to streamline processing without compromising safety or quality.
Reporting & Visibility: Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly operational KPI reports to senior management.
2. Food Safety, GMP & Quality Governance
GMP Culture: Champion and sustain a robust, world-class Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) culture across the shop floor and clean areas.
Food Safety Compliance: Work in close partnership with the food safety team to monitor critical control parameters, ensuring all personnel strictly adhere to the Food Safety Plan (HACCP, FSSC 22000).
Audit Readiness: Actively participate in all external regulatory, customer, and internal audits, taking full ownership of root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to close out Non-Conformances (NCs).
Complaint Resolution: Lead investigations into customer complaints regarding manufacturing defects, delivering structured technical reports and CAPAs within target deadlines.
3. Inventory & Material Discipline
Traceability Protocols: Establish and enforce strict material control processes, governing the receipt of raw materials and the return of unused stocks to/from production floors.
Work Order Integrity: Ensure all production work orders are closed accurately, on-time, and in accordance with financial reporting timelines.
Variance Control: Lead regular material counts and annual/bi-annual complete physical stock counts, maintaining a target of zero major inventory variances.
4. Continuous Improvement & Technical Alignment
Lean Manufacturing: Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor, leveraging Change Management frameworks and lean principles to minimize material waste, cycle time, and utility usage.
Cross-Functional Synergy: Coordinate closely with Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, Technical Maintenance, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and R&D to optimize plant efficiency.
HQ Policy Localization: Collaborate with the executive leadership team to communicate, localize, and implement corporate policies, standards, and technical changes handed down from Global HQ.
5. Leadership & Team Development
Talent Management: Recruit, mentor, and coach a large, multi-shift production workforce (including Supervisors, Line Leaders, and Operators) to build a highly disciplined, competent, and accountable team.
Feedback Loops: Maintain open communication with production personnel to identify training requirements, resolve grievances, and provide performance support.
Education & Technical Credentials
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, chemical/industrial engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline.
Standard Mastery: In-depth working knowledge of global food safety standards, specifically HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to interpret operational data, track Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Experience & Competencies
Professional Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing/production operations within the food, beverage, or ingredient processing sector.
Management Track Record: At least 3–5 years in a solid managerial/head-of-production capacity, ideally supervising multi-shift operations.
People Leadership: Proven ability to manage, inspire, and enforce discipline across large, diverse shop-floor teams.
Stress Tolerance: Proven capability to prioritize urgent tasks, resolve technical bottlenecks, and execute under pressure to meet tight commercial deadlines.
