Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer to support the development and operation of integrated resort facilities and agarwood processing operations. The role involves designing, optimizing, and maintaining processing systems related to agarwood extraction, fragrance production, wastewater treatment, utilities, and sustainable environmental management within a resort and agro-industrial environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, project management, environmental, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant processing activities while supporting sustainable resort development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Agarwood Processing & Production

• Design and optimize agarwood extraction processes including:
• Steam distillation
• Hydro-distillation
• Solvent extraction
• Oil purification and blending
• Monitor production yield, product quality, and process efficiency.
• Develop SOPs for agarwood oil extraction, handling, storage, and packaging.
• Evaluate raw material quality and processing parameters.
• Implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase profitability.
• Coordinate pilot testing and scale-up activities for new products.

Resort Utilities & Environmental Systems

• Support operation and maintenance of:
• Water treatment systems
• Wastewater treatment plants
• Boiler and steam systems
• Cooling towers and HVAC-related chemical systems
• Monitor chemical consumption and utility efficiency.
• Ensure environmentally sustainable resort operations.

Project Development

• Assist in planning and commissioning of processing facilities and resort infrastructure.
• Review engineering drawings, PFDs, and P&IDs.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Support procurement and technical evaluation of equipment.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local environmental and industrial regulations.
• Conduct quality control testing and process validation.
• Maintain production and laboratory records.
• Support ISO, HACCP, GMP, or environmental certification initiatives where applicable.

Research & Development

• Participate in R&D for:
• Agarwood-derived products
• Essential oils
• Aromatherapy products
• Sustainable extraction technologies
• Evaluate innovative green processing technologies and renewable energy applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE/Ir.) certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant industrial experience preferred.
• Experience in essential oils, natural product extraction, agro-processing, or industrial utilities is highly desirable.

Technical SkillsProcess Engineering

• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)

• Chemical dosing systems
• Utility operations

Software & Digital Tools

• Proficiency in:
• AutoCAD
• Aspen HYSYS or Aspen Plus
• Microsoft Office
• SCADA/DCS monitoring systems
• Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools is an advantage.

Environmental & Sustainability

• Understanding of:
• Wastewater treatment
• Air emission controls
• Sustainable manufacturing practices
• Environmental impact mitigation

Safety Requirements

• Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and chemical handling procedures.
• Knowledge of:
• HAZOP
• Risk assessments
• Permit-to-work systems
• Lockout/tagout (LOTO)
• PPE requirements
• Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to respond to emergencies involving chemicals, steam systems, or processing equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections and support incident investigations.

• Agarwood or essential oil extraction industries
• Fragrance, perfume, or botanical processing
• Resort utility systems and facilities engineering

• Wastewater treatment plant operation
• Renewable energy or biomass systems
