Job Summary

The Barista Trainer is responsible for developing and maintaining coffee quality standards across all stores by providing structured training, coaching, and performance evaluation for baristas and supervisors. This role ensures consistency in beverage preparation, customer service, operational procedures, and coffee knowledge while supporting team development and business growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesTraining & Development

• Conduct onboarding and barista training for new hires.
• Develop and execute training programs for coffee preparation, latte art, workflow, customer service, and store operations.
• Train staff on SOP compliance, hygiene, food safety, and equipment handling.
• Provide refresher training and skill enhancement sessions regularly.
• Evaluate trainees through practical assessments and certifications.
• Support career progression plans for baristas and supervisors.

Coffee Quality Control

• Monitor beverage quality and consistency across outlets.
• Conduct routine store visits and quality audits.
• Calibrate espresso recipes and brewing parameters.
• Ensure proper extraction standards, milk texturing, and drink presentation.
• Troubleshoot coffee quality or workflow issues with store teams.

Operational Support

• Assist stores during new openings, peak seasons, or operational challenges.
• Support implementation of new beverage menus or seasonal products.
• Coordinate with operations team regarding training needs and performance gaps.
• Maintain training materials, manuals, and assessment records.

Team Coaching & Leadership

• Mentor baristas to improve confidence, communication, and technical skills.
• Motivate teams to achieve service and quality standards.
• Identify high-potential staff for future leadership roles.
• Foster a positive learning culture within the company.

Customer Experience

• Ensure all trainers and baristas deliver excellent hospitality and customer engagement.
• Educate staff on coffee origins, brewing methods, and brand storytelling.
• Occasionally conduct public coffee workshops, cupping sessions, or customer engagement events.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–4 years experience in specialty coffee or café operations.
• Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, brewing methods, and coffee calibration.
• Experience in staff training or coaching preferred.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Leadership and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to travel between outlets when required.
• Passion for coffee, hospitality, and people development.

Preferred Qualifications

• SCA certification or equivalent coffee training certification.
• Experience in multi-store operations.
• Experience creating SOPs or training materials.
• Latte art competency.

Pay: RM2,300.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
