Position Overview:
The Kitchen Helper/ Commis plays a crucial role in supporting food preparation and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. This position is responsible for assisting in food preparation, maintaining kitchen housekeeping, and supporting the chef in daily operations. The Kitchen Helper/Commis will handle basic food preparation, arrange food items properly, and carry out ad-hoc tasks as assigned by superiors.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Food Preparation Support
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as cutting and supporting the kitchen.
- Follow instructions from chefs and colleagues to ensure efficient food preparation.
Kitchen Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized workspace on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and regular cleaning of kitchen surfaces and equipment.
Chef Support
- Assist the chef in day-to-day kitchen operations as needed.
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow.
Basic Food Preparation
- Clean and prepare basic food items (e.g., vegetables, ingredients) as instructed.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items.
Food Item Arrangement
- Arrange food items properly for easy access during food preparation.
- Ensure all food items are correctly labeled and stored.
Ad-hoc Assignments
- Perform ad-hoc assignments or other tasks assigned by superiors.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet kitchen needs.
Qualifications:
- Possess at least a Primary or Secondary school education.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience is required for this position.
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper or in a similar kitchen role is an advantage, but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods while performing kitchen-related tasks.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
