We are looking for a Sales Director with the right skillset, mindset, and heartset to transform our growth trajectory, moving us from a word-of-mouth organisation to a proactive, data-driven powerhouse of new acquisition and account expansion.
Job Description
The Mission: Partnerships & Revenue Growth
As Sales Director, you are responsible for the entire revenue lifecycle from the first "hello" at a networking event to the strategic expansion of a multi-year global account.
1. New Logo Acquisition (The Hunter)
- Strategic Outreach: Move beyond "cold calling" to execute a sophisticated, multi-channel prospecting strategy (LinkedIn, Social Selling, and Direct Outreach).
- Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Motion at 2–3 curated high-level industry events per month, pitching our value with clarity, magnetism, and a focus on business outcomes (ROI, Engagement, Transformation).
- Intellectual Leadership: Identify speaking opportunities for leadership and project-manage bespoke "invite-only" events at the House of Motion to convert high-value prospects.
2. Strategic Account Expansion (The Architect)
- Land and Expand: Map existing accounts to identify untapped departments, regional offices, and stakeholders. You aren't just selling a project; you are building a footprint.
- Joint Business Planning : Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with key clients toalign Motion’s creative roadmap with their long-term corporate objectives.
- Consultative Upselling: Partner with the Creative and Production teams to identify "white space" opportunities within current projects to add deeper value and sensorial impact
3. Sales Operations & Leadership
- Pipeline Rigor: Transition the company to a high-performing sales posture using CRM mastery to manage a weighted pipeline and provide accurate revenue forecasting.
- Pitch Leadership: Lead the "Chemistry" phase of new business, ensuring our proposals are not just services, but solutions to complex client problems.
- Team Building : Onboard and mentor Business Development Managers and Sales Executives as the Prospecting pillar scales.
4. People Leadership – Managing Your Team
You will directly manage two senior team members. Lead with clarity and trust — enabling high performance without creating dependency.
- Day-to-Day Team Leadership: Run focused 1:1sto give feedback, clear blockers, and track development; Bring clarity to priorities, set clear expectations, be scalation point
- Performance & Development: Give honest, forward-looking performance feedback — recognising strengths and addressing gaps early; Actively support each Senior Event Manager in their growth
- Collaboration & Communication: Bridge the gap between your team and the wider business — translating client expectations into clear briefs: Bring your team into pitch and planning conversations to build their commercial thinking; Keep stakeholders informed, advocate for your team's workload
With the Right Skillset, You:
- Experience: Have 10+ years of proven success in Business Development or Account Management within the Events, Creative Agency, or Experiential space.
- Commercial Acumen: Are comfortable navigating complex procurement processes and negotiating high-value contracts.
- Strategic Thinker: Can translate a client’s "business pain" into a "Motion solution."
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in CRM hygiene, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and data-driven reporting (Excel/SaaS).
- Communication: Possess magnetic verbal skills and the ability to write "un-ignorable" proposals.
- People Leadership: Have approximately 3+ years’ experience leading or managing people, within the events industry. You don’t need to have managed large teams — but you should be able to demonstrate what thoughtful leadership looks like in practice.
