Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to drive safety engineering excellence across high-value offshore and onshore Oil & Gas projects. This role is integral to the successful delivery of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and EPCIC phases, supporting complex developments such as Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facilities and Central Processing Platforms (CPP).
This position offers the opportunity to lead critical safety engineering activities, influence design integrity, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering review and verification of FEED deliverables during proposal (ITB) and execution phases
- Validate and endorse FEED documentation prior to transition into detailed design and EPCIC stages
- Oversee process safety engineering activities throughout detailed design and project execution
- Manage vendor documentation reviews and ensure alignment with project safety and design requirements
- Provide technical support for Site Technical Queries (STQ) during fabrication
- Review commissioning procedures and support commissioning activities from a safety engineering perspective
- Ensure all process safety deliverables meet project objectives related to safety, quality, cost, and schedule
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to drive project success
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical development and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- 15–25 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Proven experience serving in a Lead role on FPSO or CPP projects
- Strong exposure to both FEED and EPCIC project phases
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is advantageous
Technical Expertise
- Deep experience in Process Safety and Risk Studies:
- HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, RAM
- Safety Case development (Design & Operations)
- Safety Critical Elements (SCE)
- Flare, radiation, and dispersion studies (e.g., Flaresim)
- EERA (Escape, Evacuation & Rescue Analysis)
- ESSA (Emergency System Survivability Assessment)
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessments
- Strong background in Loss Prevention Engineering:
- Firewater system design and hydraulic analysis
- Firefighting systems and life-saving appliances
- Hazardous area classification
- Safety specifications, signage, and technical datasheets
- Familiarity with advanced simulation tools such as FLACS, KFX, or similar
Pay: RM15,000.00 - RM19,000.00 per month
