We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager with a strong multidisciplinary background in FPSO hull and topsides design and integration for Hilong Offshore (M) Sdn Bhd, part of Hilong Group.
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and coordinating all engineering disciplines within the FPSO project team, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and timely execution of design and engineering deliverables aligned with project and client objectives.
As part of the Project Management Team (PMT), the Engineering Manager will serve as the principal technical authority and interface between the client, contractors, classification societies, and internal design teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multi-discipline engineering teams (Hull, Topsides, Structural, Marine ,Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Piping) throughout FEED, detailed design, and execution phases.
- Define and ensure engineering scope, deliverables, and quality standards are consistently achieved across all project stages.
- Oversee FPSO hull and topsides integration, ensuring alignment between marine and topside systems, weight management, and stability control.
- Supervise and guide design coordination among hull structure, marine systems, utilities,
- and process modules.
- Liaise closely with Class societies (ABS, DNV, BV) and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with design codes, environmental and safety standards.
- Review and approve key engineering documents including P&IDs, general arrangements, stability reports, and integration drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to discipline leads and design engineers to ensure best engineering practices.
- Support the Project Manager in decision-making, risk mitigation, and project scheduling from an engineering standpoint.
- Manage contractor interfaces and review subcontractor deliverables to ensure design consistency and constructability.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and model reviews, and monitor resolution of technical issues.
- Interface with procurement, fabrication, and offshore commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, or Offshore Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in design and engineering management of FPSO, FPU, or large offshore oil & gas projects.
- Strong understanding of FPSO hull structure, marine systems, topside module design, and integration activities.
- Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams and engineering contractors on large-scale offshore projects.
- In-depth knowledge of international design codes and classification requirements (API, ABS, DNV, BV, IMO).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to operate effectively within PMT structures.
- Experience in FEED and EPC stages with an understanding of cost, schedule, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in engineering coordination tools such as Navisworks, 3D model review platforms, and project management software.
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior experience in FPSO conversion or newbuild projects.
- Exposure to both contractor and client (operator) environments.
- Certification or training in Project Management (PMP / PRINCE2) is an advantage.
- Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional design reviews and handle interface complexities.
Pay: RM13,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
