Job Purpose

To support technical safety engineering activities across EPCIC project phases, ensuring design and execution comply with project HSE requirements, international standards, and regulatory requirements, while safeguarding personnel, assets, and environment.


Job Responsibilities

  • Support technical safety engineering activities across EPCIC project phases (engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning).
  • Participate in and support safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, ALARP, Bowtie, SIMOPS, FERA, and EERA.
  • Develop and review Fire & Gas detection philosophies, layouts, and system requirements.
  • Prepare and review Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) drawings and documentation.
  • Review and support development of ESD/PSD philosophy, Cause & Effect (C&E) matrices, and safety shutdown logic.
  • Review fire protection systems including firewater network, deluge systems, passive fire protection (PFP), and active fire protection design.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards and project specifications (API, IEC, NFPA, ISO, and client requirements such as PETRONAS standards).
  • Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams (Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Structural, Marine, and Construction).
  • Support SIMOPS planning and risk assessments during construction and offshore operations.
  • Participate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and HSE workshops.
  • Review vendor technical documents related to safety systems and fire protection equipment.
  • Support offshore installation, hook-up, commissioning, and start-up safety verification activities.
  • Conduct site safety walkthroughs and verify implementation of technical safety requirements.
  • Prepare technical safety reports, calculations, philosophies, and compliance documentation.
  • Support project audits, HSE reviews, and incident investigation when required.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in Technical Safety / Process Safety within Oil & Gas EPCIC projects.
  • Strong understanding of offshore safety systems and process safety principles.
  • Experience in safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, F&G systems).
  • Familiar with offshore platforms, FPSO, or similar facilities.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary EPCIC project environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
  • Willingness to support offshore/site work when required.
