Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Kitchen Cook role based at Columbia Asia in Johor Baharu. The Kitchen Cook will prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, portioning guidelines, and nutritional requirements, including patient meals, staff meals, and visitor menus. Responsibilities include daily food preparation, safe handling and storage of ingredients, proper use of kitchen equipment, and maintaining a clean, hygienic work environment in line with hospital and regulatory standards.


Qualifications

  • Practical cooking skills in a commercial or institutional kitchen, with the ability to follow standardized recipes and prepare meals at volume.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (e.g., HACCP or equivalent), including safe food storage and handling.
  • Experience in meal preparation for diverse dietary needs, such as low-salt, diabetic, soft diets, and culturally appropriate menus.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with kitchen staff, dietitians, nursing teams, and other hospital personnel.
  • Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet meal service timelines.
  • Attention to detail in food presentation, portion control, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, or large-scale catering environment is an advantage.
  • Basic education with relevant culinary training or certification is preferred; additional food handling certification is a plus.
