Job Scope of an Account Assistant

An Account Assistant supports the accounting and finance department with daily financial and administrative tasks. The role helps ensure records are accurate, payments are processed, and financial documents are organized properly.

Common Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Maintain and update accounting records and databases
• Perform data entry for financial transactions
• Reconcile bank statements and company accounts
• Prepare basic financial reports and spreadsheets
• File and organize accounting documents
• Assist with payroll processing and staff claims
• Follow up on outstanding payments from customers
• Support audits and tax documentation preparation
• Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments regarding payments or billing issues

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Communication and teamwork skills

Typical Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Fresh graduates are often welcome
• Experience with accounting software is an advantage
