Role Overview

We are looking for a highly seasoned Senior VMware Engineer specializing in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) to drive enterprise-grade greenfield deployments and architecture modernizations.

This is a dedicated Day 0 (Discovery & Architecture Design) and Day 1 (Build, Commissioning, & Implementation) engineering role. It focuses purely on the initial scoping, validation, bare-metal deployment, and initial software-defined data center (SDDC) build-outs. This role does not involve Day 2 operations, routine administration, patching, or production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Day 0 Discovery & Architecture: Conduct infrastructure assessments, resource discovery, hardware compatibility validation, and architectural design mapping tailored for full-stack VCF private cloud environments.

• Deployment Parameter Planning: Own the preparation of VCF Planning and Preparation Workbooks, defining complex networking topologies, IP allocations, VLANs, routing, and sizing matrices.

• Day 1 Full-Stack Build: Lead the end-to-end automated deployment of the VCF management and workload domains using VMware Cloud Builder appliance and software definitions.

• Component Implementation: Bring up and integrate the core pillars of the SDDC stack from scratch:

  • Compute: vSphere/ESXi host customization, profile generation, and clustering.

  • Storage: vSAN configuration, storage policy design, and disk group layouts.

  • Networking: NSX-T/NSX architecture implementation, including overlay networking, edge node clustering, T0/T1 router configurations, and BGP peering.

  • Management: Automation and operations layer provisioning (VCF Automation and Operations, formerly Aria).

• Initial Validation & Handover: Execute embedded pre-checks, validate network routing, handle certificate generation/signing, and ensure complete architectural validation before handing off the platform to Day 2 operations teams.

Job Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Eligibility: Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) only.

• Experience: Minimum of 6+ years of heavy infrastructure engineering experience with a clear track record of building environments from scratch.

• VCF Expertise: Deep, hands-on implementation experience with the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, SDDC Manager, Aria suite).

• Network & Security Depth: Solid understanding of physical-to-virtual networking boundaries, data center switching, VLAN/VXLAN/Geneve mapping, and routing protocols (BGP/OSPF) critical for Day 1 NSX setups.

• Mindset: Proven background in engineering, deployment, and delivery projects rather than ongoing system maintenance and application administration.
