Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
1. Load Handling & Positioning: Safely rig, secure, and guide heavy fire protection materials into tight, elevated, or restricted areas using hoists, pulleys, chain blocks, and cranes.

2. Equipment Inspection: Conduct pre-lift inspections on all rigging hardware—including slings, cables, chains, shackles, and hooks—identifying any wear, deformation, or hazards, and quarantining damaged gear immediately.

3. Signaling & Coordination: Act as a banksman/signalman to communicate clearly with crane operators, forklift drivers, and the installation team using standard hand signals and two-way radios.

4. Basic Load Calculations: Assist in determining load weights, centers of gravity, and the appropriate hitch configurations (e.g., basket, choker) to ensure the load is balanced and secure before any lift.

5. Site Logistics & Material Handling: Unload delivery trucks, organize laydown areas, and stage fire protection equipment so it is ready for the pipefitters and mechanical installers.

6. Data Center Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to the data center’s specialized environmental and safety rules, including maintaining clean working areas, preventing dropped objects, and participating in daily toolbox talks and task risk assessments.

Experience & Education:
1. Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in mechanical rigging, heavy construction, or material handling. (Prior exposure to mission-critical, data center, or fire protection projects is a strong advantage but not strictly required).

2. Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training.

Certifications & Licenses

1. Rigging Certification: Certified Rigger and demonstrating knowledge of basic hitches, capacities, and signaling.

2. Additional Training: Certifications in Working at Heights, Scaffolding.
